Federal Emergency Mismanagement Agency (Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA nickname)

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) began in 1979 for the purpose of responding to disasters. FEMA has had many critics, especially for its response to 2005’s Hurricane Katrina.

The FEMA nickname of “Federal Emergency Mismanagement Agency” has been cited in print since at least September 7, 2005. Another FEMA nickname, also dating since 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, is “Fix Everything My Ass.” FEMA nicknames from 2024’s Hurricane Helene include “F Every MF American,” “F Everyone Mostly Americans” and “Funneling Emergency Money to Aliens.”

Wikipedia: Federal Emergency Management Agency
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security, initially created by Presidential Reoranization Plan No. 1 of 1978 and implemented by two Executive Orders. On 1 April 1979. The primary purpose of FEMA is to coordinate the response to a disaster that has occurred in the United States and that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. The governor of the state in which the disaster occurs must declare a state of emergency and formally request from the president that FEMA and the federal government respond to the disaster. FEMA also provides these services for territories of the United States, such as Puerto Rico. The only exception is when an emergency and/or disaster occurs on federal property or to a federal asset, for example, the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, or the Space Shuttle Columbia in the 2003 return-flight disaster.

While on-the-ground support of disaster recovery efforts is a major part of FEMA’s charter, the agency provides state and local governments with experts in specialized fields and funding for rebuilding efforts and relief funds for infrastructure, in conjunction with the Small Business Administration. FEMA also assists individuals and businesses with low interest loans. In addition to this, FEMA provides funds for training of response personnel throughout the United States and its territories as part of the agency’s preparedness effort.

Feeble Effort Mismanagement Agency = FEMA
WASHINGTON - The three top jobs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency under President Bush went to political cronies with no apparent experience coping with catastrophes, the Daily News has learned.Even if Bush were to fire embattled and suddenly invisible FEMA Director Michael Brown over his handling of Hurricane Katrina, the bureaucrat immediately below him is no disaster professional, either.

FEMA can stand for a lot. Here are some of our ideas:

F—-! Evacuate! Move on! Apply Blame;
Finally Emergency Men Arrive;
Federal Experts, My Ass;
Falsely Exaggerating Management of Accidents;
Fail to Evacuate and Manage Appropriately;
Forget Ever Managing Again;
For Evacuees, Missing in Action;
Flood Evacuation? Maybe After;
Fearing Every Mass Attack;
Federal Emergency Mismanagement Agency; ...

Dear Editor:
FEMA is the albatross around George W. Bush’s neck. If you recall, Michael D. Brown was in charge when Hurricane Katrina hit and Bush patted him on the back and said good job Brownie. About a week later he was out of a job for blowing it.

In 2006, Chris Edwards discussed FEMA’s “deep-seated and long-standing” record of wasteful spending on Bill O’Reilly’s radio show. At the time, a government auditor’s report found that at least $1 billion out of $6 billion in one FEMA aid program for Hurricane Katrina was paid out fraudulently, including money spent on a Girls Gone Wild video.
