Environmental Poisoning Agency (Environmental Protection Agency or EPA nickname)

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created to protect human health and the environment, but some critics believe that the agency doesn’t fulfill that purpose. The EPA has been nicknamed the “Environmental Poisoning Agency” since at least 1989. “EPA—Environmental Poisoning Agency” has been printed on T-shirts.

Other EPA nicknames include “Employment Prevention Agency,” “Environmental Persecution Agency,” “Environmental Pollution Agency,” “Environmental Propaganda Agency” and “Extremely Pathetic Agency.”

Wikipedia: United States Environmental Protection Agency
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or sometimes U.S. EPA) is an agency of the federal government of the United States which was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. President Richard Nixon proposed the establishment of EPA and it began operation on December 2, 1970, after Nixon signed an executive order. The order establishing the EPA was ratified by committee hearings in the House and Senate. The agency is led by its Administrator, who is appointed by the President and approved by Congress. The current Administrator is Scott Pruitt. The EPA is not a Cabinet department, but the Administrator is normally given cabinet rank.

The EPA has its headquarters in Washington, D.C., regional offices for each of the agency’s ten regions, and 27 laboratories. The agency conducts environmental assessment, research, and education. It has the responsibility of maintaining and enforcing national standards under a variety of environmental laws, in consultation with state, tribal, and local governments

“Today, we are declaring war on the Environmental Poisoning Agency. Listen to our demands: No more poisoned water; no more contaminated land; no more toxic air; no more cancer clusters; no more dead babies.”
(Spoken by Linda Wallace-Campbell, southern regional director of the National Toxics Campaign.—ed.)

Federal agencies constitute the most popular entity for acronym parody: EPA can stand for “Environmental Procrastination Agency,” “Environmental Poisoning Agency, and “Everyone’s Polluted Anyway; CDC (Center for Disease Control) is called the “Center for Diffusing Citizen Concerns.”

January/February 1998, The Animals’ Agenda (Vol. 18, no. 1), “EPA: Environmental poisoning agency?” by Jack Rosenberger, pg. 10:
In May 1994 at a Pharmaco: LSR International toxicology lab in New Jersey, six beagles were subjected to an acute inhalation study. They were locked inside a whole-body inhalation chamber and exposed-at least seven hours a day for four days-to methyl bromide, a pesticide classified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a Category I acute toxin, its deadliest category. It is used primarily as a soil treatment, injected into the ground to kill insects, nematodes, rodents, weeds, and disease-bearing organisms prior to planting crops.

Wow. Just when you think the recent episode of Dubya and the Seven Sheiks (i.e. the United Arab Emirates) was about as bad as it could get, the Compassionate Conservative’s EPA (Environmental Poisoning Agency, formerly known as…) has proposed lowering the standards for drinking water in rural America so that we might have the privilege of ingesting three times as much arsenic and other delightful ingredients as people living in Washington, D.C., Dallas or Miami! Why? Clean drinking water? Too expensive; can’t afford it.
