“Drink Coffee: Do stupid things faster and with more energy”
“DRINK COFFEE: Do stupid things faster and with more energy” has been printed on many gift items, such as coffee mugs, refrigerator magnets and T-shirts. The saying has been cited in print since at least 1999.

Last things first: coffee. I saw a mug for sale yesterday with the slogan: “Drink coffee, do stupid things faster with more energy.”

A year ago through sheets of rain on Northeast Portland’s Glisan Street I spotted a sandwich-board sign with the words, “Bazaar of the Bizarre.”
It turned out to be a joke shop, and through the storefront window I saw attractions that ranged from rubber fried eggs to real greeting cards. I went in for warmth and a card.
The store was quiet. I was the only customer. I looked for a card but nothing jumped out, so I took in the sights, everything from Librarian Action Figures and Flavorless Nihilist Mints to posters such as the one of a happy woman with the message: “DRINK COFFEE—Do stupid things faster with more energy.”
