Wikipedia: Dosa
A dosai or dosha or dosa or dose is a thin pancake or crepe, originating from South India, made from a fermented batter predominantly consisting of lentils and rice. It is somewhat similar to a crepe in appearance, although savoury flavours are generally emphasized (sweet variants also exist). Its main ingredients are rice and black gram, ground together in a fine, smooth batter with a dash of salt, then fermented. Dosas are a common dish in South Indian cuisine, but now have become popular all over the Indian subcontinent. Dosas are served hot along with chutney by tradition and sambar in recent times. Other accompaniments include chutney powder (a fine groundnut and lentil powder).

Bread is a vehicle for butter whilst poppadoms are a vehicle for mango chutney. Mango chutney > butter. Poppadoms.

I wonder if most people realize that what they actually love is not the momo but the accompanying spicy chutney?Momo is nothing but a vehicle for transporting the garlicky chutney to the system. U cud eat boiled paper with tht chutney&it might still feel the same. Pls introspect!

There was a dosa in my lap. It’s gone now.
I should have spread the filling out more. BUT! The plain dosa bits were a perfect vehicle for the chutney. And now, the jamun…

Have you tried @DosaKitchenUK’s version, @edanderson101? Agree with the consensus of them being vehicles for sambhar and chutney.

Exactly, came here to see if anyone said this. A good idli can be more than just a vehicle for sambar, chutney and podi.
