“Don’t steal—the government hates competition”
“Don’t steal—(the) government hates (the) competition” has been a saying on bumper stickers and T-shirts since about 1984. It is not known who originated the popular saying.
U.S. Congressman Ron Paul (a candidate for the presidential nomination of the Republican party in 2008) stated in Congress in February 2008 that he had a “Don’t steal – the government hates competition” sign on his office desk.
