“Disney World is like a huge people trap that is operated by a mouse”

“Disneyland/Disney World is a people trap set by a mouse” is a joke that has been printed on many images. Disneyland opened in California in 1955; Disney World was opened in Florida in 1971.

Mickey Mouse is the popular symbol of The Walt Disney Company. The joke was printed in The Saturday Evening Post on June 28, 1958:

“One weary-looking visitor, accompanied by a toddler wearing a Mickey Mouse cap, made the classic remark of all time, ‘This is the greatest people trap in the world ever built by a mouse.’”

The joke was extended to Walt Disney World in the 1970s. “Disney World, the second greatest people trap ever built by a mouse” was printed in 1972.

Wikipedia: Disneyland
Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, opened on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. It was originally the only attraction on the property; its official name was changed to Disneyland Park to distinguish it from the expanding complex in the 1990s.
