Wikipedia: Death by Chocolate
Death by Chocolate is a marketing term for various desserts that feature chocolate (especially dark chocolate or cocoa) as the primary ingredient. The trademark is owned by the parent company of Bennigan’s restaurants, but unlicensed uses of the term are common.
A dish called “Death by Chocolate” might be:
. A layered chocolate cake, with fudge, ganache, or chocolate mousse between the layers
. A molten chocolate cake
. A flourless chocolate cake (sometimes called “chocolate decadence”)
“Death by Chocolate” is also the name of an ice cream flavour. In the ice cream, there is usually chocolate fudge, chocolate chunks and chocolate ice cream.

In an oblong dish, place a scoop of Turkey Hill Premium Death By Chocolate Ice Cream at both ends. Scatter a few chopped pecans over each scoop and top with whipped cream, being careful to leave the space between the ice cream vacant. Fill that space with mint syrup. Connect the two dips with a half slice of orange. (In 1930, this treat cost a whopping 15 cents!)

Also drawing raves this year is Turkey Hill’s strawberry-rhubarb pie ice cream, which is strawberry ice cream studded with cake-y pieces of cobbler and a rhubarb swirl. While this is a “feature flavor” as opposed to being in the regular lineup, some feature flavors are so well liked they assume a permanent status, Weaver says. Customers liked the Death by Chocolate (dark chocolate swirled with more chocolate and studded with chunks of chocolate fudge) so much it’s now made year-round.
