Daily Kooks (Daily Kos nickname)

The Daily Kos is a progressive political blog, founded in 2002 by Markos Moulitsas. The blog gets its name from the second syllable of the name “Markos.”

Critics of the blog have called it (and its followers) “Daily Kooks” since at least July 2007.

Wikipedia: Daily Kos
Daily Kos (pronounced /ˈkoʊs/) is an American political blog that publishes news and opinion from a liberal or progressive point of view. It functions as a discussion forum and group blog for a variety of netroots activists, whose efforts are primarily directed toward influencing and strengthening the Democratic Party. Additionally, the site features a participatory political encyclopedia, glossaries, and other permanent content.

Daily Kos is an example of a collaborative blog, offering comment-posting privileges to its visitors. Daily Kos was founded by Markos Moulitsas (Kos from the last syllable of his first name, his nickname while in the military) in 2002. In 2007, its parent company, Kos Media, LLC, began a fellowship program to help fund a new generation of progressive activists. About a dozen contributing editors provide content for the site, with three to four new editors being chosen from the Daily Kos community every year.

As of January 2010, Daily Kos had an average weekday traffic of over 600,000 visits, and received over 20 million visits per month. It is financially sustained by advertising, with Google AdSense and Blogads. The ads focus mostly on activist causes, media, and political candidates. Members can also purchase an ad-free subscription to the site if they want.

The website runs on the Scoop content management system. In 2009, Time magazine listed the Daily Kos in its “Most Overrated Blogs” section. Despite the listing, Time magazine readers named the Daily Kos the second best blog.

Urban Dictionary
Daily Kos (Daily Kooks)
Daily kooks 30 something and can typically be found in their parents basement about to,in the middle of or just finished whacking off to old Liberace posters. They pride themselves as being “enlightened”, but when faced with a debate of substance, they start sputtering bumper sticker slogans such as “Bush Lied, troops Died” or Jesus was an organizer and Pointus Pilot was a Governor”. If this doesn’t work, then they resort to throwing food and running off like pansies. They preach about how the government is so bad while leaching untold amounts of money from the government under the guise of “welfare”. Usually they use the tactics of Saul Alinsky when they don’t get their way or losing an argument, they go to ridiculing and making up stories to fit their agenda. No need to visit this sight unless you are depressed, suicidal or need a good laugh. Usually can be found wearing Obama t-shirts stating “change-Delusions you can believe in”.
Uh oh, another democratic party member recieved his talking points from the Daily Kos (Daily Kooks).
