“Courtesy, Service, Protection” (Texas Department of Public Safety motto)

“Courtesy, Service, Protection” is the motto of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The DPS website states that the DPS was created in 1935, but the motto is cited in print being used by Texas patrolmen by at least 1933.

Texas Department of Public Safety: Motto
The Department continues to uphold its motto,
“Courtesy, Service, Protection.”
When the Texas Department of Public Safety was created in 1935, the Legislature made the new agency responsible for maintaining public safety in the state of Texas. The Department works toward this goal within existing regulations and in cooperation with other agencies with mutual or related responsibilities. The DPS seeks to preserve order by protecting lives, rights, property and privileges of the residents of this state.
