Cocoanista (cocoa + fashionista)

“Cocoanista” (cocoa/chocolatier + fashionista) was coined in 2011 by Jacqueline Jacek, owner of JACEK Chocolate Couture in Sherwood Park (outside Edmonton). The term is a more descriptive one that simply “chocolatier” and Jacek claims that she’s the world’s first and only “cocoanista.”

What is a Cocoanista?
Jacqueline Jacek is the world’s first Cocoanista; a fusion between a Fashionista & a Chocolatier. A Cocoanista applies the principles of haute couture in the creation of artisan chocolates. These principles include expression through shape & colour (and the additional dimension of flavour in chocolate), intricate construction, innovative technique and the use of the highest quality components to create truly exceptional works of art.

Jacek calls herself a “cocoanista,” a word she coined that fuses fashionista and chocolatier to describe someone who applies the principles of fashion to the creation of artisan chocolate.

“I decided to make my own dream job and I love fashion and food, so I combined them,” she explains.

She thinks she’s the only cocoanista in the world.
