Cidery (cider winery)
A “cider winery” or “cidery” is a place where cider is produced. “In fact, at the largest cider winery (‘cidery’ is the usual term) in North America” was cited in print in 1977. “Try a cidery or, more properly in that particular industry, a cider works” was cited in 1981 by the same writer.
Mount Vernon Cidery (Richmond, Virginia) held a now-expired trademark on cidery with a claimed first use in 1995. Several establishments used the name “cidery” by the late 1990s.
“Ace Cider has opened the first cidery (cider bar) in the United States” was cited in 1999, but the term “cidery” usually has not referred to a “cider bar.”
