Center for American Regress (Center for American Progress nickname)
The Center for American Progress is a progressive public policy research and advocacy organization (trademarked since September 2003). Some critics of the Center for American Progress have nicknamed it the Center for American Regress since at least July 2007. On December 17, 2008, CAP’s ThinkProgress blog suggested that an alternative Republican organization might be named “Center for American Regress.” New York (NY) Times columnist Paul Krugman also suggested the name “Center for American Regress” for a proposed Republican think tank in his May 27, 2009 column.
The blog ThinkProgress has been nicknamed ThinkRegress since at least May 2006.
Wikipedia: Center for American Progress
The Center for American Progress is a progressive public policy research and advocacy organization. Its website states that the organization is “dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action.” It has its headquarters in Washington D.C.
Its President and Chief Executive Officer is John Podesta, who served as chief of staff to then U.S. President Bill Clinton. Located in Washington, D.C., the Center for American Progress has a campus outreach group, Campus Progress, and a sister advocacy organization, the Center for American Progress Action Fund. Citing Podesta’s influence in the formation of the Obama Administration, a November 2008 article in Time stated that “not since the Heritage Foundation helped guide Ronald Reagan’s transition in 1981 has a single outside group held so much sway.”

Ah, I see. So I can’t count on a straight answer due to his supposedly superior intellect. Are we sure this isn’t Hillary under an assumed name, because she, and those like her, behave just like this. They think they’re right, and if we dare to disagree with her and the Center for American Regress, then we’re automatically stupid.

Center for American Regress?
Politico’s Ben Smith reports that the RNC is staffing up for a new, in-house think tank designed to revive the party’s “policy heft.” The think tank will be named the Center for Republican Renewal, and it is the result of many inside the conservative movement viewing the 2008 electoral failures as “in part, a product of stale ideas.”

Center for American Regress?
Douglas Holtz-Eakin wants a conservative version of the Center for American Progress. But as Matt Yglesias points out, there are plenty of think tanks on the right, funded at levels beyond the left’s wildest dreams. If CAP is running rings around right-wing think tanks intellectually — which it is — it’s not due to a lack of institutions or funding.

“Center for American Regress”
Love it. That’s Paul Krugman’s suggestion for a name. Conservatives say they want their own version of Center for American Progress because they don’t have enough fucking think tanks as it is.

President’s Approval Rating Soars Amongst Self-Described “Deadbeats”

When asked whether this emerging demographic could be counted on coming out in the upcoming elections Crassville was guardedly optimistic. “All this Tea Party talk about accountability, responsibility and reigning in government spending has really scared this particular group of the President’s supporters. They are terrified at the prospects of having to do something with their lives… much less having to go out and find a job. A group of concerned lawyers from NYU have helped them form the new “Something for Nothing” PAC. The Center for American Regress is providing financial support and get out to vote campaigns to get this thing going.”
