“Buy ‘em when they’re sleepin’, hold ‘em when they’re creepin’, sell ‘em when they’re leapin’”

“Buy ‘em when they’re sleepin’, hold ‘em when they’re creepin’, sell ‘em when they’re leapin’” is a rhyming investment strategy to buy an asset when it’s down (“sleeping”) and to sell it when it’s up (“leaping”). Irene Hoover, manager of the Jurika & Voyles Mini-Cap Fund, has used the doggerel since at least 1997.
