Bud and Breakfast (marijuana bud + bed and breakfast)
When recreational marijuana became legal in states, the traditional “bed and breakfast” became a “bud and breakfast,” with marijuana part of the appeal. ““We are going to be the first ‘bed, bud and breakfast’ in the country” (Compassion Flower Inn in Santa Cruz, California) was cited in print in 2000. “Santa Cruz ‘bud and breakfast’ is for the mainstream, too” was cited in print in 2004.
“I would stay at a ‘Bud and Breakfast’” was cited on Twitter on April 11, 2013. A Colorado business used the “bud and breakfast” term in April 2014.
Wikipedia: Bed and breakfast
A bed and breakfast (or B&B) is a small lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodation and breakfast, but usually does not offer other meals. Since the 1980s, the meaning of the term has also extended to include accommodations that are also known as “self-catering” establishments. Typically, bed and breakfasts are private homes with fewer than 10 bedrooms available for commercial use.

2000-03-30 04:00:00 PDT SANTA CRUZ—Some bed and breakfast inns offer local wine and cheese, some specialize in ceramic bunnies. But the Compassion Flower Inn, soon to open in Santa Cruz, may be the first to offer a private garden patio, complete with clothing-optional hot tub, to visiting pot smokers.

Pot-smoking privileges at the Compassion Flower Inn are reserved for those with a doctor’s note, and even certified medical marijuana patients are required to bring their own stash.
“We are going to be the first ‘bed, bud and breakfast’ in the country,” said Mallek-Tischler, “but we do not provide the bud.”

Santa Cruz ‘bud and breakfast’ is for the mainstream, too

Amy Ettinger, Santa Cruz Sentinel
Breakfast at the Compassion Flower Inn isn’t always ‘mellow.’ When Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for The Doors, stayed there two weeks ago he argued that the minimum voting age should be raised to 35.
It’s not unusual for guests at the ‘bed, bud and breakfast’ to debate politics into the early afternoon, but it’s caffeine that fuels the morning conversation.
‘Pot isn’t what drives the topics,’ says co-owner Andrea Tischler.
The inn on Laurel Street opened four years ago, on 4/20, and its friendly attitude toward medical-marijuana users made front-page news across the country. Tischler and her partner Maria Mallek run the inn with the help of their two children.

That evening we were invited to a, “Bud and Breakfast Hotel,” that was a meticulously restored Victorian home in Santa Cruz. I went with two vaporizers, a 1⁄4 lb of bodacious bud and an ounce of pure honey oil.

Along with cheaper gas, flights, and outlet mall shopping, British Columbians could soon have another reason to drive south to Bellingham, Blaine and Whatcom County: legal weed.
Mike Momany, the founder of the Washington State Cannabis Tourism Association, hopes British Columbians will cross the border to wake and bake at a “bud and breakfast,” or attend marijuana-themed outdoor movie viewing parties in Washington.
