“Boy, did I call it or what?—George Orwell”
“Boy, did I call it or what?—George Orwell” is a jocular saying that has been printed on many images. English author George Orwell (1903-1950) didn’t actually say this, but it’s a joke on what Orwell might say if he were to come back and see the world become more Orwellian (as he predicted).
“Boy, did I call it or what? -George Orwell” was posted on Twitter by Cocoa Koala on February 20, 2019. “‘Man, did I call it, or what?’ -George Orwell ‘Hold my beer.’ -Margaret Atwood” was posted on Twitter by Sterling Pohlmann on May 16, 2019.
“I literally wrote a book to warn you guys about this.—George Orwell” is a related joke.
Wikipedia: George Orwell
Eric Arthur Blair (25 June 1903 – 21 January 1950) known by his pen name George Orwell, was an English novelist, essayist, journalist and critic. His work is characterised by lucid prose, biting social criticism, total opposition to totalitarianism, and outspoken support of democratic socialism.
Wikipedia: Orwellian
“Orwellian” is an adjective describing a situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free and open society. It denotes an attitude and a brutal policy of draconian control by propaganda, surveillance, disinformation, denial of truth (doublethink), and manipulation of the past, including the “unperson”—a person whose past existence is expunged from the public record and memory, practiced by modern repressive governments. Often, this includes the circumstances depicted in his novels, particularly Nineteen Eighty-Four but political doublespeak is criticized throughout his work, such as in Politics and the English Language.

I’m reasonably sure that Orwell never said, “Boy, did I call it or what?”
