“Blue raspberry as a flavor has a lot of nerve. Blueberry is out here doing the work and raspberry just shows up in blue face”
There is a “blue raspberry” flavor, although a raspberry is red (or black), not blue. Blue was needed to differentiate raspberry from red foods such as cherry, watermelon and strawberry. Blue food coloring is used, and the flavor is usually composed of pineapple, banana and cherry, despite the “raspberry” name. The “blue raspberry” flavor was first introduced in 1958.

Wikipedia: Blue raspberry flavor
Blue raspberry is a manufactured flavoring and food coloring for candy, snack foods, syrups, and soft drinks. The flavor does not derive from any species of raspberry, but rather was developed using esters that are part of the flavor profile of pineapple, banana and cherry. Sugar is commonly added to create taste appeal for the blue raspberry flavor.
Food products labeled as blue raspberry flavor are commonly dyed with a bright blue synthetic food coloring, such as brilliant blue FCF (also called FD&C Blue No. 1 or European food coloring number E133).
The blue color was used to differentiate raspberry-flavored foods from cherry-, watermelon-, and strawberry-flavored foods, each of which is typically red.

History
Blue raspberry flavoring debuted commercially in the United States in 1958 with Gold Medal’s snow cone syrup. Its wider adoption followed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) 1969 approval of FD&C Blue No. 1. This regulatory change encouraged other companies, including The Icee Company and Otter Pops, to introduce blue raspberry products in the early 1970s.

Why are we, as a society, so willing to accept blue raspberry as a flavor?
Would we be so openminded about purple banana, or beige watermelon?

One day a dude was like “this is blue raspberry flavor” and we said
“raspberries aren’t blue” and he said
“well this is what they would taste like if they were” and we just said “oh ok”
