Big Ugly Fat Fuckers Eating Together (“buffet” backronym)

The word “buffet” is not an acronym, but it has been given the jocular backronym (back acronym) of “Big Ugly Fat Fuckers/Fellows/Folks/Freaks Eating Together” since at least the late 1990s. It’s not known who first used the backronym.

Haha.  Back in my ‘ol restaurant days, we had a saying about people and their free buffet habits.  “You know what *buffet* is an acronym for?  Big Ugly Fat F*ckers Eating Together.”

Several years ago I was in a corporate hotel training class when the topic of buffets came up.  I’ve always felt like they’re a necessary evil in the business, so when a classmate bluted out, “B-U-F-F-E-T stands for Big Ugly Fat Fuckers Eating Together” you can imagine my delight.
