Big Blue Apple (Big Blue + Big Apple)
“Big Blue Apple” (Big Blue + Big Apple) is what New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg called New York City in February 2012, during the celebration for the Super Bowl-winning New York Giants football team. “Big Blue” is a nickname of the New York Giants, who have blue uniforms. “Big Apple” is a popular nickname of New York City.
The official flag of New York City is colored blue, white and orange. Sports teams such as the New York Mets (baseball) and New York Knicks (basketball) use the colors of blue and orange in their logos.
