“Big Apple Dreamin’” (song by Alice Cooper, 1973)
“Big Apple Dreamin’ (Hippo)’ is a song by Alice Cooper on the album Muscle of Love (1973). It is perhaps the first rock song with “Big Apple” in the title. “Let’s move from Ohio, sell this dam’ old store/ Big Apple dreamin’ on a wooden floor” is a lyric, indicating a move from Ohio to New York City.
“Although from Detroit, Alice Cooper recorded an audio tourguide of NY City (inc. some seedier elements) with ‘Big Apple Dreamin’ (Hippo)’ - the Hippo part is a reference to The Hippopotamus Club on East 62nd ST That the band had visited” was posted on Twitter by Andy Page on February 10, 2018.

In a contemporary interview with Circus magazine, Cooper said that a loose concept of “urban sex habits” developed during the album’s recording. The title of “Big Apple Dreamin’ (Hippo)’ refers to the Hippopotamus club of New York City which the band used to frequent.

Album Muscle of Love
We’re so young and pretty, we’re so young and clean
So many things that we have never seen
Let’s move from Ohio, sell this dam’ old store
Big Apple dreamin’ on a wooden floor
Skyscrapers and subways and stations
Staring up at the United Nations
New York is waiting for you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down
New York, we’re coming to see what you’re made of
Are you as great as you sound ...

Today’s @NY_Comic_Con soundtrack: Big Apple Dreamin’ by Alice Cooper. Love it’s musical references to Rhapsody in Blue and Somewhere. “New York is waiting

“Heard about them massages, and all those dirty shows
I read somewhere some places never close
While we waste time on yokels, comin’ through the door
Big Apple dreamin’ on a wooden floor”
