Big Apple Shoot Out (horse show event, 2016-present)

The Big Apple Shoot Out is a horse show event hosted by Central New York Appaloosa to celebrate the Appaloose horse. The first show, in 2016, was held at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds in Schaghticoke, New York. The 2025 show was held at the New York State Fairgrounds, at the Toyota Coliseum in Syracuse, New York.

Our History
CNY Appaloosa proudly launched the inaugural Big Apple Shoot Out in 2016 at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds in Schaghticoke, NY, and has since expanded to the New York State Fairgrounds! This vibrant event is organized by a dedicated team of volunteers committed to creating a fun-filled, family-oriented ApHC and All Breed horse show experience.

There are no required ‘membership dues’ to pay!
The Big Apple Shoot Out show offers numerous High Point and Reserve High Point Awards in specific divisions, growing to 2.5 days centered around Youth, Non-Pro/Amateur, and Beginner exhibitors - with a special interest around the Appaloosa horse!
The BASO is a horse show event open to all exhibitors! The show includes classes for ALL BREED-OPEN and APPROVED APPALOOSA HORSE CLUB riders.
Originally sponsored by professional organizer Wendy Washeleski and her EQUINE TRANSFORMATION FOUNDATION, she has continued to be an appreciated supporter. Since the first show in 2016, it has been held at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds in Schaghticoke NY. Not being an ApHC regional club, the BASO is an approved ApHC show hosted by a small group of private individual volunteers known as “Central New York Appaloosa”.
