Bears (New York Institute of Technology teams)
The New York Institute of Technology has three locations: Manhattan (near Lincoln Center), and Old Westbury and Central Islip on Long Island.
The NY Tech teams are named the "Bears" because...well, probably because they just couldn't think of a better name. "Bears" on the Upper West Side?

The Central Islip campus is located on Suffolk Countyî–¸ south shore, just minutes from several Atlantic Ocean beaches. The third NYIT campus is located in the New York City borough of Manhattan, just a few blocks from Lincoln Center and Central Park.

''There were just a few events for women then, but meet directors were encouraged to add more as women began turning out in larger numbers,'' said Zinno, who has been the track coach at New York Tech since 1973.

Zinno's female runners have won the last five E.C.A.C. team competitions - three indoors and two outdoors. And if his main runners perform well, Zinno believes the Bears have a good chance to continue their string of E.C.A.C. victories.
