Babycino or Babyccino (baby + cappuccino)
A “babycino” or “babyccino” (baby + cappuccino) was conceived as a drink for a young person while a parent has a drink at a coffeehouse. Despite the “-cino” or -ccino” in the name, the drink has no coffee and usually consists of frothed milk, often sprinkled with chocolate powder.
The “babycino” has been popular in Australia since at least 1998 and “babyccino” became popular in Brooklyn in 2012.
Wikipedia: Babycino
A steamer (North America), babycino (Commonwealth excl. NZ) or fluffy (New Zealand) is a drink of frothed milk but no coffee (hence no caffeine), which is available in some coffeehouses. In North America it often has flavored syrup added, while in Commonwealth countries it is primarily marketed to children (as a coffee-free cappuccino, as the name indicates), and sometimes topped with marshmallows, a chocolate flake, or sprinkles. In Australia it is commonly served with a marshmallow on the side.

What do you mean you’ve never heard of a babycino - a cup of milky froth, for God’s sake (mutters under breath: “she’s got about as much English as our useless au pair”)

Yes, there are some parents in Manhattan. You see them in SoHo on Rollerblades, wearing black, pushing their toddlers in funky strollers with three wheels while blasting Alanis Morissette. They pull over and take the little one into Dean & Deluca for a decaf babyccino.

Mum and Dad drink their lattes and cappuccinos whilst the little ones play with their babyccinos!
The staff in many coffee shops nowadays are frequently accommodating, often making a ‘babyccino’ (cup of froth with chocolate powder on top) for the little’un for no charge. They seem to have realised the simple fact that “happy kids means happy parents” who stay longer and thereforespend more.

Starbucks stores across London offer a free drink that I have yet to come across here in the US: the Babyccino.
If you’re with a baby, or even if you just say you are, the barista will froth up some milk in an espresso-sized cup for you. Then, you can sit down and drink your own coffee without feeling too guilty that you have dragged your son/daughter into a coffee shop that holds no interest for them.

Coffee … for kids! ‘Babyccinos’ are espresso shots for tots

They grow up so fast.
Brooklyn’s obsessive coffee culture is rubbing off on the borough’s youngest cafe-goers, with tots ditching their bottles and juice boxes in favor of “babyccinos” — mini decaf cappuccinos or frothy cups of steamed milk and foam.
Moms and dads in neighborhoods like Park Slope, Fort Greene and Prospect Heights are ordering the small, foamy, surprisingly grown-up beverages for their pint-sized offspring.
