“Average gumbo is only medi-okra”

Okra is often used in a “mediocre” pun as “medi-okra” or “mediokra.” “Worst pun of the year (...) ‘Mediokra’” was printed in 1943 newspapers.
 
Gumbo is sometimes used in the joke. “I’m not gonna eat this gumbo. It’s mediokra” was posted on Twitter on January 11, 2010. “I need better vegetables for my gumbo, these are medi-okra” was posted on Twitter on February 25, 2015. “Average gumbo is only medi-okra!” was posted on Twitter on APril 3, 2015.
 
“It was meaty okra” is a similar pun.

Worst pun of the year: When a visitor, touring Otto Kruger’s victory garden, came to the okra plants and asked how they were doing, Otto said: “Mediokra.”
