The X-Files preacher was an ex-MARINE, not an ex-army man.  Big difference.  As any jarhead will tell you, Army stands for “Aren’t Ready to be Marines Yet.”

Marine Soliders. How about Marine Jokes?

So, the entire time he’s poking fun at people, trying to scare any seventeen or eighteen year olds who really didn’t want to be there. When its my turn, I proudly say, “I’m goin’ in the Marines!”  to which he replies, “Marines?  You know what Marines stands for: Muscles Are Required Intelligence Not ESsential.”

This gets a huge laugh from all the other branches’ recruits.  Then the petty officer says, “Hell, I don’t know what you army guys are laughing at, ARMY stands for Ain’t Ready for the Marines Yet.”
