“Anybody with money to burn will easily find someone to tend the fire”
“Anybody with money to burn will easily find someone to tend the fire” is a jocular saying about money. “The man who has money to burn can always find someone to help tend the fire” was cited in print in 1956. Authorship of the one-line saying is unknown.
13 October 1956, Kokomo (IN) Tribune, “Just Checking, Thanks!” by Marge Bancroft (by the Union Bank and Trust Co.), pg. 6, col. 1:
THE man who has money to burn can always find someone to help tend the fire…but he’s usually shorthanded when it’s time to sweep up the ashes! It’s just plain common sense not to get burned in the same place twice. Put your extra dollars in a Union Savings Account where interest earnings are now 2%.
