“Animal rights are human rights”
“Animal rights are human rights” is an animal rights slogan that has been printed on many images. The saying is a variation on “Women’s rights are human rights.”
“Animal rights are human rights because humans are animals” was printed in The Progressive (Madison, WI) in August 1999. “Humans are part of the animal kingdom, so animal rights are human rights” was printed in the News Gazette (Champaign, IL) on August 8, 2001.
August 1999, The Progressive (Madison, WI), “Letters to the editor,” pg. 6:
The progressive movement is just as hypocritical as the conservative movement. Both are replete with rationalizations that appeal to each side’s sensibilities. Both sides have tenets set in sand. Animal rights are human rights because humans are animals.

Gay rights are straight rights. The animal-rights advocate is not anti-human. Like his forebears, he hates brutal tyranny. Animal rights are human rights.

19 July 2010, Maclean’s (Toronto, ON), “The Summit: Showdown in the Streets,” pg. 27:
As the crowd in Toronto’s Allan Gardens spilled onto Carlton Street, many looked around, as if searching for directions. It was the first official day of G20 protesting, and while the mob eventually headed west, at no point did it feel like any one person or group was at the helm. Young men at the front chanted, “Free, free Palestine.” Pro-choicers carried empty coffins with coat hangers attached. Others clung to banners. One read, “Animal rights are human rights.”

Animal rights are human rights, and human rights are transgender rights. Fuck lateral hostility, and fuck false dichotomy.

Animal rights are human rights. The entire system of animal ag is based on the idea of replaceable, inhumane treatment of underlings, whether they are human or not.

The End of Meat Is Here! If you care about the working poor, about racial justice, and about climate change, you have to stop eating animals.
