American Spring

The “Arab Spring” revolutions of early 2011 led some to call for an “American Spring” to change the way the United States is governed. The term “American Spring” has been cited in print since at least April 2011.

Some blogs initially dubbed the Occupy movement in September-October 2011 as the “American Spring,” while others still held out hope for a true “American Spring.”

The Twitter term #AmericanSpring became popular in April 2014, after Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy fought with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and retained the right to his cattle. Patriots for America began organizing since December 2013 for an event called “Operation American Spring” to take place in Washington, D.C., on May 16, 2014.

Wikipedia: Arab Spring
The Arab Spring (Arabic: الثورات العربية‎, al-Thawrāt al-ʻArabiyyah) is a revolutionary wave of demonstrations, protests, and wars occurring in the Arab world that began on 18 December 2010.

To date, rulers have been forced from power in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen; civil uprisings have erupted in Bahrain and Syria; major protests have broken out in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, and Sudan; and minor protests have occurred in Lebanon, Mauritania, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, and Western Sahara.

The roll call of U.S. officials implicated in torture is long, yet not one of them has been held accountable: George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, John Yoo, Alberto Gonzales, psychologists Col. Larry James and John Leso, among others. As an Arab Spring is celebrated around the world, we should turn over a new leaf in the United States and celebrate an American Spring as well, one that rejects torture and is not afraid to use its judicial system, whether trying accused terrorists or torturers.

American Spring: Time to Stop Funding Terror Around the World
Job stimulus for terrorists, a housing crisis for Israel, moral relativism, oh my!

Barack Obama has many sinister friends who are egregiously subsidized by taxpayers, but at least they aren’t terrorists.  Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his foreign patrons.  At a time when Congress is searching for any morsel to cut from our domestic budget, Obama wants to expand foreign aid..to terrorists and terror filled nations.  His push for expanded foreign aid comes as part of a broader endorsement of the “Arab Spring” uprisings in his latest foreign policy speech.  Bin Laden is also endorsing them from the grave.  Republicans need to call for an American Spring and categorically oppose all aid to enemy nations and entities in the 2012 budget.

The American Spring
It’s on the way

by Justin Raimondo, June 20, 2011
The lamestream media still thinks it gets to define what is the mainstream, and that’s why every account of the recent Republican Leadership Conference (RLC) “reported” that, yes, Ron Paul won the straw poll, but the real significance of the event was John Huntsman’s second place finish.

Al Gore: Let’s have an ‘American Spring’, as in the Arab Spring

On Tuesday’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” on Current TV, for the second night in a row Gore made an appearance on his own network. This time, it was to respond to the debt ceiling legislation agreed upon by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama. According to Gore, that new legislation demands the “reinvigoration of democracy” or an “American spring,” to get the country back on what he thinks is the right course.

American Spring?
BY Debbie Galant |  WEDNESDAY, SEP 21, 2011 11:44AM
There have been mobs of protesters in Zuccotti Park in Manhattan since Saturday, protesting greed on Wall Street. But if you haven’t heard much about it, that could be because, according to some critics, there’s an unofficial mainstream media news brownout of the events. Philadelphia Daily News writer Will Bunch makes an analogy to the Arab Spring protests, which garnered so much American media attention last winter — less so on the protestors’ home turf.

Time for an American Spring?

Is it time for an American Spring? Few people would suggest an effort to overthrow the government or a wave of mass demonstrations. But the business-as-usual tools of democracy don’t seem to be working. Citizens have a chance to vote every couple of years, but recent elections have done nothing to shake up the leadership. Ninety-five percent of members of Congress are routinely reelected if they manage to stay out of jail or avoid a sex scandal. The primary system is essentially rigged so that a handful of the most zealous, uncompromising voters get to choose the elected officials. And billions of dollars flow into the coffers of candidates who can be most helpful to the wealthy elite, corporations or special interests.
