Agg Town or Aggtown (Arlington nickname)

Agg Town (or Aggtown) is a hip-hop nickname for the city of Arlington, dating from about 2003. The nickname is confusing—it has nothing to do with the Texas A&M Aggies. The origin of the nickname is unknown.

well my whole crew is sober (except kenny of course) so we decide to take our asses back to arlington. the five most sober left first (to scope out for cops and shit) and make it back to aggtown, where we then call the others to let them know it’s alright to leave. well, our ride dropped me and greg off at lipscomb so we went into his dorm room.

What Would Tyler Durden Do?
After all the crazy news reports about the “fight club” video tapes - the tapes showing young kids beating the hell out of each other in Arlington (oddly referred to as “Agg Town”) - it is kinda surprising to learn that you can still buy them here.

10 August 2006, Rolling Stone, pg. 43:
But is it legal? Fighting in public is typically a felony, but what about filming and distributing footage of a fight? In Arlington, Texas, one teenager will soon find out. Nineteen-year-old Michael G. Jackson - who says he began filming street combat more than two years ago and marketed his AggTownz Fights DVDs on a now-defunct Web site - is awaiting trial. (“AggTown” is slang for Arlington.)

5 October 2007, Fort Worth (TX) Star-Telegram, “Arlington police targeting gang members” by Nathaniel Jones, pg. 6:
The Tarrant County district attorney’s office sought charges of engaging in organized crime against four adults involved in the 2006 Agg Townz Fights videos, which showed teens beating one another and were distributed over the Internet. They pleaded guilty to various charges.
