“A champion is someone who is willing to be uncomfortable” (“Be comfortable being uncomfortable”)
Several people have said that one should be “comfortable being uncomfortable.” The book Setting Goals (1983) by John Renesch asked, ” Are you willing to be uncomfortable (like any other form of adventure), and receive more value from your life?”
Self-help author Peter McWilliams (1949-2000) wrote in Do It!: Let’s Get Off Our Buts (1994):
“For now, be willing to be uncomfortable. Be comfortable being uncomfortable. It may get tough, but it’s a small price to pay for living your Dream.”
American college basketball head coach Pat Summitt (1952-2016) wrote in Sum It Up: A Thousand and Ninety-Eight Victories, a Couple of Irrelevant Losses, and a Life in Perspective (2013):
“There is an old saying: a champion is someone who is willing to be uncomFortable.”

Patricia Sue Summitt (née Head, June 14, 1952 – June 28, 2016) was an American college basketball head coach who achieved the most wins in NCAA basketball history. She served as the head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team from 1974 to 2012, winning eight NCAA championships (an NCAA women’s record when she retired), and surpassed only by the 10 titles won by UCLA men’s coach John Wooden and the 11 titles won by UConn women’s coach Geno Auriemma. She was the first NCAA coach, and one of four college coaches overall, to achieve at least 1,000 wins (she achieved 1,098).

There is an old saying: a champion is someone who is willing to be uncomFortable. My message to that team at 4:30 A.M. was: “This is what it takes. I’ve shown you what it requires, what real eFFort looks like. Now you know, and if you turn away from it, take a shortcut, you’ll be settling for less. And if you do it once, you’ll do it for the rest of your life.”

Judge Karen told the 1,200 people in attendance that “A lot of times when we hear the word martyr, we think about somebody who is willing to die for a cause,’’ Judge Karen said. “But another definition of martyr is someone who is willing to make a sacrifice for a great cause - someone who is willing to be uncomfortable for a greater cause.”
