“A horse walks into a bar and says, ‘On a right-angled triangle with side X, Y, and Z…’” (bar joke)

“A guy walks into a bar…”  is a typical form of what has been called the “bar joke.” A Pythagorean theorem version is:

“Pythagoras walks into a bar and says, ‘Which one is the hypotenuse?’ The barman says, ‘Y, the long face.’”

This is based on the famous bar joke, “A horse walks into a bar and the barman says, ‘Why the long face?’”

“Pythagoras walks into a bar muttering, ‘If a right-angled triangle has a short side, X, a long side, Y, and hypotenuse, Z, then the square of Z must be equal to the sum of the square of X and the square of, erm… uh…’ The barman says, ‘Y, the long face?’” was posted on Reddit—Jokes on October 15, 2012. “A Geometry student walks into a bar. The barman asks ‘y, the long face?’” was posted on X/Twitter by Pundamentalism on September 6, 2013.

“A horse walks into a bar and asks the bartender ‘On a right-angled triangle with the sides X, Y and Z, if X and Z are perpendicular, which side is opposite to the right angle?” The bartender responds ‘Y, the long face?’” was posted on Reddit—Jokes on November 17, 2016. “Pythagoras walks into a bar and says ‘Which one is the Hypotenuse?’ The Barman says ‘y, the long face’” was posted on Facebook by Stephen Gould on February 14, 2021.

Wikipedia: Pythagorean theorem
In mathematics, the Pythagorean theorem or Pythagoras’s theorem is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry between the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides.
(...)
The theorem is named for the Greek philosopher Pythagoras, born around 570 BC.
