Not Serving Americans or Not Serving Anyone (National Security Agency or NSA nickname)

The National Security Agency was formed in 1962 to improve foreign intelligence within the United States government. The NSA’s intelligence gathering is limited to foreign communications, but in 2013 it was leaked that the NSA had been spying on Americans in the United States.

In 2013, American technical contractor Edward Snowden made international news when he told The Guardian and the Washington Post about the NSA’s secret PRISM surveillance program; Snowden said that it was very easy to spy on anyone—Americans as well as foreigners. The NSA nickname of “Not Serving Americans” was cited in print in 2010, but became popular on Twitter on June 5, 2013. The NSA nickname of “Not Serving Anyone” was cited on Twitter on June 6, 2013.

The NSA nickname/motto “Never Say Anything” has been cited in print since at least 1961. The NSA nickname “No Such Agency” has been cited in print since at least 1982.

The NSA nicknames of “Now Spying on Americans” and “National Socialist Agency” have been cited in print since at least 2005 and 2006, but were popularized in 2013 after the NSA’s surveillance programs made international headlines. Other post-2013-spying-scandal nicknames include “National/Neocon/Nefarious Spying Agency” and “National Snoops’ Agency.”

Wikipedia: National Security Agency
The National Security Agency (NSA) is an intelligence organization of the United States government, responsible for global monitoring, collection, and processing of information and data for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes – a discipline known as signals intelligence (SIGINT). NSA is concurrently charged with protection of U.S. government communications and information systems against penetration and network warfare. Although many of NSA’s programs rely on “passive” electronic collection, the agency is authorized to accomplish its mission through active clandestine means, among which are physically bugging electronic systems and allegedly engaging in sabotage through subversive software. Moreover, NSA maintains physical presence in a large number of countries across the globe, where its Special Collection Service (SCS) inserts eavesdropping devices in difficult-to-reach places. SCS collection tactics allegedly encompass “close surveillance, burglary, wiretapping, breaking and entering”.

Unlike the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), both of which specialize primarily in foreign human espionage, NSA does not unilaterally conduct human-source intelligence gathering, despite often being portrayed so in popular culture. Instead, NSA is entrusted with assistance to and coordination of SIGINT elements at other government organizations, which are prevented by law from engaging in such activities without the approval of the NSA via the Defense Secretary.

Chambers: NSA: Not Serving Americans

The Obama administration says it will ignore the recommendation, despite the finding the massive data gave the NSA “not a single” piece of information on terrorist threats to the nation—zip, nada, none.

As traitor/hero Edward Snowden says, “There is simply no justification for continuing an unconstitutional policy with a zero percent success rate.”
