Virginia Farm Boys (Central Intelligence Agency or CIA nickname)

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is the successor to World War II’s Office of Strategic Services (OSS). The George Bush Center for Intelligence headquarters compound of the CIA is located in the unincorporated community of Langley in Fairfax County, Virginia. in what used to be farmland. However, the nickname “The Farm” refers to Camp Peary, a covert CIA training facility in York County, Virginia. The CIA nickname of “Virginia farm boys” has been used since at least 1996, when the nickname was mentioned in the film Mission: Impossible.
The CIA has also been nicknamed “The Agency,” “Pickle Factory” (since at least 1965), “The Company” (since at least 1972), “Christians In Action” (since at least 1978), “Capitalism’s Invisible Army” (by R. Buckminster Fuller in 1981), “Cocaine Importing Agency” (since at least 1988), “Capitalism’s International Army” (since at least 1995), “Certified Idiots of America” (since at least 1996), “Clowns In America” (since at least 2010), “Crooks In Action” (since at least 2010) and “Catholic Intelligence Agency” (since at least 2012).
Wikipedia: Central Intelligence Agency
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is a civilian intelligence agency of the United States government. It is an executive agency and reports directly to the Director of National Intelligence, responsible for providing national security intelligence assessment to senior United States policymakers through means of non hostile psychological, cyber, and social warfare using none military commissioned civilians to carry out these intel gathering operations. The CIA also engages in covert activities at the request of the President of the United States.. When such field operations are organized, the U.S military or other warfare tacticians often carry these field operations out on behave of the agency, as few field units actually exist in the agency. Divisions, such as SAD, exist only to carry out emergancy field operations that require immediate suppression or dismantlement of a threat or weapon. Often, civilian intelligence agencies, such as the CIA, are used for intelligence gathering instead of the U.S military to prevent declaration of war.
The CIA’s headquarters is in Langley in McLean, unincorporated Fairfax County, Virginia, a few miles west of Washington, D.C. along the Potomac River.
Wikipedia: George Bush Center for Intelligence
The George Bush Center for Intelligence is the headquarters compound of the Central Intelligence Agency, located in the unincorporated community of Langley in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The headquarters, officially named in the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1999 for George H. W. Bush on April 26, 1999, is a conglomeration of the Original Headquarters Building (OHB) and the New Headquarters Building (NHB) that sits on a total of 258 acres (1.04 km2) of land. The OHB was designed by the New York firm Harrison & Abramovitz in the 1950s, and contains 1,400,000 square feet (130,000 m2) of space. The ground was broken for construction on November 3, 1959, and the building was completed in March 1961. The NHB, designed by Smith, Hinchman and Grylls Associates, was completed in March 1991 after the ground was broken for construction on May 24, 1984. It is a complex that adjoins two six-story office towers and is fully connected to the OHB.
Colloquially, it is known by the metonym Langley. “The Farm” is not a reference to the center despite its address, but to the CIA training facility at Camp Peary.
Wikipedia: Camp Peary
Camp Peary is an approximately 9,000 acre U.S. military reservation in York County near Williamsburg, Virginia. Officially referred to as an Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity (AFETA) under the authority of the Department of Defense, Camp Peary hosts a covert CIA training facility known as “The Farm”, which is used to train officers of the CIA’s Directorate of Operations, as well as those of the DIA’s Defense Clandestine Service,  among other intelligence entities

Because the headquarters of the CIA is located in Langley, Virginia, which was open farmland when the agency was formed and the headquarters was constructed, employees of the agency are often called “Virginia farm boys.”
