Killeenite (inhabitant of Killeen)

“Killeenite” is the name of an inhabitant of Killeen, Texas. The name “Killeenite” has been cited in print since at least 1927.

Killeen is a city in Bell County, Texas, The United States. The population was 86,911 at the 2000 census. As of 2009, Killeen had 119,510 people. In 2010 Killeen’s population shot to 127,921. It is a “principal city” of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area.
 
Killeen is directly adjacent to the main cantonment of Fort Hood, and as such its economy heavily depends on the post and the soldiers (and their families) stationed there.

16 May 1958, Gatesville (TX) Messenger and Star-Forum, “Three Arrested For Hot Checking,” pg. 1, col. 1:
A Killeenite charged with giving a $27.50 hot check in Copperas Cove was handed a $31.45 fine and costs, and a Fort Hood soldier also drew a $41.45 fine and costs for passing a hot check at a Gatesville garage.
