A “pathocracy” is a government run by “pathocrats”—that is, pathological personalities or psychopaths. The term “pathocracy” was used by Andrew Lobaczewski in his book, Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes (1998 in Polish, 2006 English language second edition).

Definition of Pathocracy
Definition: pathocracy (n). A system of government created by a small pathological minority that takes control over a society of normal people (from Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes, by Andrew Lobaczewski)
from Greek pathos, “feeling, pain, suffering”; and kratos, “rule”
A totalitarian form of government in which absolute political power is held by a psychopathic elite, and their effect on the people is such that the entire society is ruled and motivated by purely pathological values.
A pathocracy can take many forms and can insinuate itself covertly into any seemingly just system or ideology. As such it can masquerade under the guise of a democracy or theocracy as well as more openly oppressive regimes.

I’ve talked about this amazing book before in previous posts, but it’s high time I discussed this in more detail.
Political Ponerology is the study of social-political evil. It meticulously describes how a particular negative mind-set, can be spread like a virus after it infects a ‘normal’ system; in our case the ‘normal system’ is our minds, and our social existence, and all that implies from there on.
Pathocracy is a disease of great social movements followed by entire societies, nations, and empires. In the course of human history, it has affected social, political, and religious movements as well as the accompanying ideologies… and turned them into caricatures of themselves…. This occurred as a result of the … participation of pathological agents in a pathodynamically similar process. That explains why all the pathocracies of the world are, and have been, so similar in their essential properties.
The actions of [pathocracy] affect an entire society, starting with the leaders and infiltrating every town, business, and institution.
The pathological social structure gradually covers the entire country creating a “new class” within that nation. This privileged class [of pathocrats] feels permanently threatened by the “others”, i.e. by the majority of normal people. Neither do the pathocrats entertain any illusions about their personal fate should there be a return to the system of normal man.

Pathocracy Begets Idiocracy
By Allen Branson
I recently rented the movie Idiocracy, having heard from several people that is was hilariously funny and, from a few others, that it would make me weep. As usual, the few were closer to the mark.

The Pathocrats have been doing this for a long time. Cat Stevens was “detained” with his young daughter for contributing to legitimate Muslim charities. They want the poor in the USA and Iraq to die in the streets.

Pathocracy: Tyranny at the Hand of Psychopaths
Although Sigmund Freud introduced the world to the word psychopath in his book Psychopathology of Everyday Life, published in 1901, it wouldn’t be until forty years later that a true definition of psychopathology was developed to include the personality type of psychopath: a scientific understanding that sheds light on past and current events.
This brings me to the deplorable historical events in the United States, especially since 1913. Are psychopaths running the show? Lets look at some facts.
According to Lobaczewski:
In a pathocracy, all leadership positions, (down to village headman and community cooperative managers, not to mention the directors of police units, and special services police personnel, and activists in the pathocratic party) must be filled by individuals with corresponding psychological deviations, which are inherited as a rule. However, such people constitute a very small percentage of the population and this makes them more valuable to the pathocrats. Their intellectual level or professional skills cannot be taken into account, since people representing superior abilities (who are also psychopaths) are even harder to find. After such a system has lasted several years, one hundred percent of all the cases of essential psychopathy are involved in pathocratic activity; they are considered the most loyal, even though some of them were formerly involved on the other side in some way.

Glad to see the word pathocracy being noted. It’s an important word of which more people should be made aware.
