In my opinion, avoid the festival and visit Ninth Avenue when it's less crowded. But no one asks me.

Hell's Kitchen will be cookin' this weekend. The multi-ethnic stew that is Ninth Avenue from 37th to 54th Streets is producing the Ninth Avenue International Festival, celebrating the tenacity of ethnicity through food and entertainment.

WHATEVER anyone else may be doing this weekend, the activity most likely to attract bona-fide eaters has to be the Ninth Avenue International Festival, taking place - weather permitting - from 11 A.M. to 7 P.M. tomorrow and Sunday. Running from 37th Street to 57th Street, in the area once known as Paddy's Market, the festival will celebrate the worldwide array of foods regularly available in the shops and restaurants along the avenue and on the side streets.
As in the two previous years the festival, sponsored by the Ninth Avenue Association, promises to be a nosher's paradise, with an international assortment of tidbits, most of them dispensed free, from the stalls that will line both sides of the avenue.
