“Never buy from a rich salesman and always hire a rich attorney”

The Complete Murphy’s Law (1990) by Arthur Bloch included these rules:

“GOLDENSTERN’S RULES:
1. Always hire a rich attorney.
2. Never buy from a rich salesperson.”

It’s not known who “Goldenstern” is and it’s not known if his “laws” had been in use earlier. One should always hire a rich attorney because it shows that the attorney knows the legal system and can keep one out of jail. However, one should never buy from a rich salesperson because that person is just overcharging and is taking too large a cut—a cheaper deal can be found.
