“Irish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day” (knock-knock joke)

"Irish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day” (for “I wish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day") is a saying that has been printed on many images. “Irish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day” was printed in a personal ad in the Detroit (MI) Free Press on March 17, 1973.

A knock-knock joke version was printed in Boys’ Life magazine in February 1984:

“Knock, knock!”
“Who’s there?”
“Irish.”
“Irish who?”
“Irish you a happy St. Patrick’s Day!”
