Harold Geneen (1910-1997), an American businessman who was president of the ITT Corporation, wrote in his book, Managing (1984):

“In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins: Cash and Experience. Take the experience first; the cash will come later.”

Geneen’s advice has been cited in many business articles and books.
