“Houston—The Real Texas”

"Houston—The Real Texas” was a slogan invented by the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau in 1993. Many parts of Texas claim to be “the real Texas,” and this Houston slogan has not been especially effective.

Some hard-to-define cities, like Houston and Denver, slogan-shop every few years. Houston, for one, has tried “The Bayou City,” “Houston’s Hot,” “The Real Texas,” and “SpaceCity.”
