“Don’t quit your day job” (show business adage)

"Don’t quit your day job” (or “Don’t give up your day job” or “Keep your day job") is advice to an actor/artist/model/musician/writer who probably won’t be able to make a living in that field. “Don’t give up your day job” has been cited in print since at least 1973.
