Beltwaytarian
Washington, DC, is surrounded by a highway called the Capital Beltway (Interstate 495). Someone who is “inside the Beltway” is a Washington (or federal government) insider; someone “outside the Beltway” is a Washington outsider.
The LewRockwell.com Blog has used the term “Beltwaytarian” since January 22, 2008. A “Beltwaytarian” is someone “inside the Beltway” who claims to be Libertarian, but who believes in a large and powerful federal government.

Lew, thanks for pointing out this follow-up piece from Justin Raimondo’s original knockout punch. Somebody send that man a box of Cuban cigars. Justin is spot-on when he says that the smear cowards are speechless.

Beltwaytarians Against Ron Paul

Someone writes: “Isn’t it ironic that stato and treason, hitherto little-known outside of libertarianism, now have much higher profiles: as the anti-Ron Paul think tank, and the anti-Ron Paul magazine?” Too bad the stato institute’s man just dropped out.

“Rothbard On Lincoln And His War”
(...)
I’d like to see if the beltwaytarians have the chutzpah to apply this label to the late, great Murray Rothbard, of Brooklyn, New York, who authored this scathing critique of Lincoln and his war that contained such passages as the following: ...

A Snotty, Snearing Beltwaytarian

In 2007–2008 some of the higher ups at the Cato Institute helped orchestrate a vicious smear campaign against Ron Paul and his supporters. Unlike them, Ron never supported the “PATRIOT Act” and the occupation of Afghanistan. He wants to abolish the Fed; they pretend to be interested in “improving” the Fed. They want to “work with” the Washington establishment; Ron wants to abolish as much of that establishment as possible

What Will They Do With All Those Pocket Constitutions?
