“40 is the new 30, but try telling that to a speed camera” is a jocular one-line saying that has been printed on GIFs. The joke has been cited in cited in print since at least 2007.
The remark has been used to describe a father or mother. “‘40 is the new 30!’ My dad always used to say. Lovely man. Terrible at keeping his driving licence” was posted on Twitter on March 6, 2014. “My mum always used to say ‘40 is the new 30’. Lovely woman. Banned from driving” was posted on Twitter on January 19, 2016.
