1931: “Around The Big Apple” column
Turf Play, a Chicago periodical, probably provides us with a third John J. Fitz Gerald "Big Apple"-titled column.
On November 7, 1931, page 15, is "Around The Big Apple, By Mr. Manhattan."
Although "Mr. Manhattan" is never identified, it is most probably John J. Fitz Gerald. Fitz Gerald had used the exact same title for his 1924 New York Morning Telegraph column. "Mr. Manhattan" several times reveals that he is or was a Morning Telegraph writer. It is not likely that the column was written by anyone else.
